Bring Your Group to the Bridge!
Looking to explore STEM and STEAM principles with your classroom? Looking for an engaging enrichment program for your club or group? Schedule a visit to our museum at the Bear Mountain Bridge!
The newly-renovated museum is a space set aside in the lower level of the historic administration building near the toll plaza. Inside, explore bridge building tools, artifacts, and images of bridge history.
Your group's visit can be paired with our new STEM/STEAM curriculum allowing teachers and students to learn at, on, and under the iconic Bear Mountain Bridge. Your group will also get the chance to get tours of the span with members of the New York State Bridge Authority's engineering team, offering the opportunity for students to learn about careers in the STEM fields. From the bridge, take a short hike to the Popolopen Creek pedestrian suspension bridge, offering the opportunity to see two different bridges up close and personal. A visit to the museum can easily be paired with group visit to nearby Bear Mountain State Park or Fort Montgomery State Historic Site.
Please note the museum is currently open by appointment only. The space inside can accommodate about 20-30 people with chairs and tables set up. To schedule your group's visit, please email hbhv@nysba.ny.gov.
